Review: Absolutely loved this book. It is so inciteful and easy to understand, awhile giving important pieces of information and numerous examples to show how Law and Society are connected. I enjoyed reading this book for one of my university classes. I was happy that the book was inexpensive, so that I could buy it instead of renting it. I will definitely continue to read this book and add it as my first collection of books to keep. Simply put, this is my first time actually having a school book that I found so interesting that I was glad to have bought it. Most books I rent for school are only useful and interesting to me for a course.

Review: This book was required reading in a Law & Public Policy Class. Calavita has some interesting concepts, introducing the reader to such topics as Legal Pluralism, demonstrating how law is applied differently. The main problem is the theme has an extreme liberal agenda. Some of her theories are based on opinion and not a balanced view of the facts. It's a good overview of Law and Society as that field is dominated by a liberal perspective anyway.
